In short
How do you get paid from the App Store and Google Play?
App revenue is paid once banking and tax details are complete in the store's payments profile. On Apple you sign the Paid Apps Agreement first, then complete a US tax form; accounts in Türkiye are not listed separately in Apple's threshold table, so the default 40 US dollar threshold applies. On Google Play payouts are issued around the 15th of the following month, with a 1 US dollar threshold in local currency.
Steps
0 / 5 steps
Apple: sign the Paid Apps Agreement first
The tax forms do not appear until the agreement is signed. That is why the order matters: agreement, then tax, then banking. Teams that do not know this wait for days on an empty tax tab.
Apple: complete the US tax form
Developers outside the US may be asked for a W-8BEN, W-8BEN-E or W-8ECI; a short questionnaire decides which. If you publish as a company, the entity form W-8BEN-E is the right one.
Watch out: Once submitted you cannot change it in App Store Connect — corrections go through Apple support.
Apple: add the bank account and contacts
The Agreements, Tax, and Banking section has four tabs: agreements, tax, banking and contacts. Paid sales do not open until all four are complete. Leaving the legal, finance and technical contact fields empty keeps the contract pending.
Google: create the payments profile
The payments profile is a separate record from the developer account. The legal name you enter is shown to customers and on receipts, and the address must match official documents — PO box addresses are not accepted.
Google: verify the bank account with test deposits
The bank account must be registered in the country stated on the payments profile. Google sends small test deposits; you confirm the amounts in the console once they land. Banks can take up to three business days to process them.
What happens between a sale and money in your account?
The chain has four links: the sale, the store commission, the payout threshold and the payout date. Most teams know the first two and not the last two — which is where the first month's “why hasn't the money arrived” comes from. A balance below the threshold is not paid, it is held; and the payout date is not the day of the sale but the middle of the next period.
The second difficulty is sequencing. Neither Apple nor Google opens paid sales until banking and tax details are complete. This setup is paperwork, not code, and it can take weeks; started after development finishes, it is what holds the launch date.

What four things must be complete before Apple opens paid sales?
The Agreements, Tax, and Banking section of App Store Connect has four tabs, and paid apps and in-app purchases cannot be sold until all four are done: accepting the current agreements, completing the tax forms required for your country, entering the bank account that receives payment, and naming the legal, finance and technical contacts.
The order binds too. Tax forms do not appear on screen until the Paid Apps Agreement is signed — so a team that starts with “let's sort out tax first” is looking at an empty tab. Once the agreement is signed the forms open, and most can be submitted electronically.
Until it is signed the tax tab stays empty.
Usually within a day of the setup being completed.
Tax form processing can take weeks; this is usually the reason for the delay.
Which US tax form will you file?
Every developer must complete a US tax form to comply with the Paid Apps Agreement. Outside the US you may be asked for a W-8BEN, W-8BEN-E or W-8ECI; a series of questions directs you to the right one. For a company publishing in its own name, the entity form W-8BEN-E is the one.
This is also the only irreversible step here. Once submitted, no changes can be made in App Store Connect; corrections and additional forms go through Apple support. Check the legal name against the commercial register and the tax ID against your tax certificate before submitting — fixing it afterwards means a support thread.
How separate is the Google Play payments profile?
Entirely separate, with its own verification. The legal name you enter is shown to customers and on receipts, the address must match official documents, and PO box addresses are not accepted. The bank account must be registered in the country stated on the payments profile — a company established in one country opening a profile in another simply cannot get verified.
Verification runs on small test deposits: Google sends tiny amounts and you confirm them in the console. Banks can take up to three business days to process them, so this step is not a same-day job either.
Which day does the money arrive?
On Google Play, payouts for orders processed between the 1st and the last day of a month are issued around the 15th of the following month. Deposits are not initiated on weekends or banking holidays, so a 15th falling on a Saturday lands on Monday. On Apple the payment period follows the fiscal calendar, and the balance is held until the threshold is met.
| Item | Apple | Google Play |
|---|---|---|
| Payout threshold | Türkiye not listed separately — default 40 USD | 1 USD in local currency; 100 USD for USD wire |
| Payout timing | In the payment period following the fiscal close | Around the 15th of the following month |
| Tax form | US tax form required (W-8BEN / W-8BEN-E / W-8ECI) | Tax details in the payments profile |
| Below threshold | Held, rolls into the next period | Held |
| VAT in Türkiye | Collected by the store | Google determines, charges and remits |
What happens if I stay below the payout threshold?
The money is not lost, it is held. Apple's rule: no payment is sent until the balance exceeds the threshold, and the amount rolls into the next period; once the threshold is passed, the accumulated balance is paid together. Türkiye is not listed separately in Apple's country-and-currency threshold table — which places it in the “all other” row, at a 40 US dollar threshold.
On Google the threshold is lower but depends on your choice: 1 US dollar for local-currency payouts, 100 US dollars for USD wire transfers. Given that wire fees can exceed fifty dollars, lowering the USD wire threshold is a net loss.
What if the bank account name does not match the company name?
Verification fails quietly, and most teams notice when the first payout does not arrive. Both stores expect the account to belong to the legal entity named on the profile. With a sole proprietorship an account in your own name is natural; with a limited company, entering a founder's personal account also creates an accounting problem, because it routes revenue outside the company.
The same care applies to the address. The address on the payments profile must match official documents; a branch address or an old registered address stretches verification out.
