In short
Why do users quit a language app in the first weeks?
Neuros built speaking practice on 1-to-1 matching, embedded level assessment into the quiz flow and gamified progress. An adaptive flow brings back the structures a learner struggles with. What changed is not the amount of content but the learner's role: instead of watching one-way material they practise, which is what makes progress measurable.
01Challenge
The hardest part of language learning is continuity. A user consuming one-way content drops off in the first weeks, and speaking practice is the most expensive part to scale.
02Approach
We built speaking practice on 1-to-1 matching, embedded level assessment into the quiz flow and gamified progression. The adaptive flow brings back whatever structure the learner struggles with.
03Outcome
Learners practise instead of watching content, and progress became measurable.

Matching looks at level, target language and availability window; when two users each speak the language the other is learning, a reciprocal session can be set up. The real problem the system must solve is not match quality but waiting time: users abandon a session after more than a minute of waiting, so pool depth and scheduling preferences were designed first.
On the pattern of mistakes rather than the count of right and wrong. A repeated error on the same grammatical structure triggers that structure entering the revision flow; a one-off mistake does not. Spacing is also taken into account: a structure answered correctly is asked again after an interval to measure whether it has been forgotten.
